Whether you’re a witch, monster or princess tonight it’s important to stay safe and we found some helpful tips to help you out!
For parents…
- Plan out a route for your little monster to go on. That way, if you can’t go with them you know exactly where you can find them!
- Make sure you tell your trick-or-treater to stay in familiar areas and not wonder off the beaten path.
- Instruct them to stop ONLY at well-lit houses. They don’t won’t to wake anybody up or get in a dark area!
- Establish a return time home so they aren’t out too late.
- Tell them not to eat their candy until they get home…that way you can control the sugar rush!
- Put reflective material on their costumes so they can be easily seen by cars traveling down neighborhood roads.
For kiddos…
- Bring a flashlight! Keep it held down to your feet so you don’t shine it at a driver’s eyes.
- Stay on sidewalks if you can! If there aren’t any make sure you’re walking towards traffic so you can see the cars coming your direction.
- Take your friends! It’s much more fun to trick-or-treat in groups and safer!
For all motorists…
- OBEY THE SPEED LIMIT! This is of the utmost importance…especially on Halloween! There will be children everywhere.
- Be very slow when entering and exiting driveways.
- Watch for children in dark costumes, you may not be able to see them!
