I think most people can agree that it’s very easy for your refrigerator to become a complete, unorganized mess within a matter of days. We want to help you avoid this, so we’ve done some research to find some great tips on how to keep your fridge organized and hassle free.
A good first tip is to keep all of your raw meats (ground beef, bacon, chicken, etc.) in a separate bin, basket or drawer. This allows you to easily find it and you don’t forget it exists (it’s okay, we’ve all done it!) You also avoid the chance of cross-contamination. This also works if you want to put your meat in the freezer.
Another great tip is to use labeled file boxes to keep things like snacks, fruits and vegetables organized and separated. By using chalk labels you can change out what you want in the boxes! You can also just simply put labels on the different drawers and shelves in your fridge so if someone else is filling your fridge, they know where to put everything.
Buying a bag hanging unit is well worth it! Little baggies of toppings, chopped- up vegetables and whatever else you choose to bag can easily get misplaced in your fridge and then quickly forgotten about. A pull-out hanging unit keeps the baggies right in front of you and takes up way less space.
Lettuce seems to go to waste more often than not. Why not make your salads in advance in mason jars? By putting the dressing and toppings on the bottom, nothing will get soggy and the lettuce will last longer because it’s sealed tight in the jar!
Use your fridge door as a dryerase board to keep track of what you need to buy, expiration dates and meals for the week. Of course, this will only work if you have a fridge capable of writing on. If you can’t write on yours, just buy a dry erase board and stick it on the front or side!
Lazy susans to the rescue! Don’t let yourself forget about those things that get pushed in the back of the fridge. Keep all of your condiments (mayo, mustard, pickles, etc.) on a lazy susan.
And lastly, use masking tape and a sharpie to label containers of when they were opened.
We hope these awesome tips will help make your fridge a little more organized and cooking more enjoyable!
