Ever wonder the proper way to deep clean your appliances? Or how often you should do it?
In addition to daily wipe-downs of spills and messes, here’s how often you should actually be scrubbing those appliances.
Dishwasher
Remove any visible pieces of food.
Run a hot cycle with 1 cup of vinegar (in a bowl) on the top rack and 2 cups of baking soda sprinkled on the bottom rack.
Frequency? Monthly
Refrigerator
Remove all shelves and wash in warm soapy water. Wipe down interior while shelves are removed.
Frequency? Quarterly
Washing Machine
Run your machine on the hottest cycle with 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of baking soda to keep your duds smelling fresh and clean!
Tip: Leave door open after cycles to air dry the interior
Frequency? Monthly
Oven
First, remove racks and hand wash in soapy water. Scrape off any remaining food from the bottom of the oven. Add a baking soda and vinegar mixture to stuck on bits. Let soak at least 4 hours or overnight. Wipe away. For tough spots use a commercial product, such as Easy Off.
Frequency? Quarterly
Microwave
Remove any loose crumbs. Microwave a bowl of water for 3 minutes or until boiling. Let sit for 5 minutes to loosen any tough spots. Remove turn table to wash in soap and warm water. Wipe down interior before replacing turn table.
