This past Saturday, September 15th, we held the 2018 Bham’s Egg-cellent Egg Fest. Being that it is September, which is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, all proceeds from the event went to Children’s Hospital to support pediatric cancer. The Egg Fest was held just outside the doors of our Birmingham showroom! The Will Echols Band, Aaron Patrick Band, and Kenny Williams on the Saxophone all helped to set the lively tone for the day with some wonderful tunes for everyone to enjoy as they sampled away at over 500 samples of delicious original recipes! We were so excited to see how innovative the teams could be with various recipes on the Big Green Egg.
The overall winner of the event was awarded the coveted golden egg and a spot to compete at the World Food Championship in Orange Beach. Although there was an abundance of tasty food from all of the competing teams, “The Mason Jars” won the judges over with their delicious Maple Bacon Glazed Doughnuts, dubbing them the 2018 Egg Fest Champions, as well as the 1st place winner in the “Everything Else” category. Who has ever heard of cooking doughnuts on a Big Green Egg?! Not us, but we wouldn’t have had them any other way. We look forward to cheering on “The Mason Jars” as they compete for the title of World Food Champion!
Big Daddy Sauces, whose delicious BBQ sauce is sold in the Birmingham showroom, took home 1st place in the “Pork” category, 2nd place in the “Chicken” category, as well as 2nd place in the “Everything Else” category. Butt Patrol won 1st place in the “Chicken” Category and 2nd place in the “Pork” category. D.R. Horton was a real crowd-pleaser with their Hamburger Skewers, as they took home the “People’s Choice” award.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support AllSouth and Children’s Hospital! It was such a fun day and we already can’t wait to start planning the 2019 Egg Fest.
