Whether you love trying new things, or you’re looking to spice up a room, accent walls can become your new best friend. Accent walls provide unlimited options: you can use wood, brick, wallpapers, and paint colors. Within those options come to a whole new world of design. With wood, you could use reinforced food, shiplap, painted wood, etc. With brick, you could use natural or painted, and of course, there are millions of cute, sleek, and chic wallpapers to choose from. The most common accent wall people use is, of course, paint. If a room is all white, and you add a dark navy accent wall to it, it can really add a lot of character to a room and provide various options for design. Here are some common do’s and don’ts for accent walls:
- DON’T shy away from bold colors. This can really bring a lot of life and character to a room.
- DO think outside the box. Using only paint can restrict design elements. Consider shiplap or painted brick.
- DON’T forget to consider the other natural elements of your room. What are the current colors used? Don’t forget to compliment the rest of your room.
- DO consider using stripes or metallics as a fun design. These can especially be nice for kids rooms or nurseries.
- DON’T forget about all the options wallpaper can bring. This doesn’t restrict you to colors or patterns. You could even have an accent wall of a beach or forest.
- DO make sure you choose the right wall for your accent wall. Rooms without an architectural feature could really benefit from an accent wall.
